 Hi Herve,

Just been told that the Stripe plugin 2.2.1 isn't working at all on our website ... customers getting the screen below, although it's taking the money out of their account. Some have re-tried multiple times then hit their credit limit and had their cards blocked.

I've had to unpublish the plugin, can't take any card payments atm. Need to go do a lot of refunds and goodwill payments.

Hi David,

I'm very sorry to ear that.

I don't know what you were doing lately, but it is not recommended, on a LIVE website, to turn a payment plugin on and off. Neither to restore a previous backup from December, or to do any thing in "panic mode".

There are some differences between the the two versions of the plugin you mentioned, and the error "unknown column 'stripe_response_charge_id' ..." suggests that successive installs have taken place. I don't see a reason why the latest 2.2.1 would not work with your setup.

We will have a closer look tomorrow. Do you have a test / development server to reproduce the issue?

Hi Herve,

Yes, I agree - and BTW it's far too late to be answering support queries :) However we had some pretty bad experiences in the last few weeks with huge volumes (first free event we offered ... ha ha !).

Unfortunately there are many moving parts as we have maybe 50 components running on the site, and it took testing since late January to narrow down the cause of the Free orders problems to the Stripe plugin, but even after further testing then revealed some other symptoms when the volume came on recently.

Anyway, I've just completed smoke testing a combination of Joomla 3.8.4/VM3.0.16/Stripe 2.2.1 running which looks stable, albeit with the problems of the Free payments method. I re-installed and re-enabled the Stripe 2.2.1 plugin and everything else looks OK. Visa/Mastercard/Amex/Paypal are working successfully, backend and VM tables look fine. Free payments still has the issues we discussed earlier.

So I'm going to leave it for tonight and clean up tomorrow, hopefully the Free payments issue is an easy one :)

Just a followup Hervé,

I have test servers that I can easily give you front and backend access to where I can replicate the issue, but let me know if you need command line access as I'd have to set up separate certificates for you to get in at that level.

Hi David,

Yes, test server access would speed up the tests for your situation. I don't CLI access at all, no worries.

Stripe Plugin for Virtumart best Ever

Functionality

Once you go through the documentation and try out the settings (and don't forget to test it with a "test item", it works like a dream.

Ease of use

Very easy to use, though a little play with the settings may be needed to get an understanding of the system. And you need a stripe account.

Support

Best support ever. Hervé has been very patient and kind and helped me greatly when the Stripe plugin no longer spoke with the new updates.

Documentation

Documentation is very good. You do need a Stripe account, and you need a little "try out" time to get it all in place.

Value for money

Yes, very much value for money. The plugin, Hervé's support, the easy for the customers to use it. It is all worth it.

I used this to: I use it for my IMRF Bookshop: imrfbookshop(.)org. People can now pay by credit/debit card, Paypal (different plugin) and they can request an invoice and pay by bank transfer.

I particularly liked that test and live config is entered once, and a radio button to switch between modes

Ease of use

Straight forward to setup in the backend and easy for customers to use on the frontend.

Support

Issues created by an upgrade to Virtuemart were dealt with in a timely manner by the developer.

Documentation

Good documentation library that uses screen shots to clearly show configurations

Value for money

Yes. There are different subscription options, depending on your requirements.

I used this to: Selling various items of merchandise for a sailing club through Virtuemart.

This plugin is great! At first I couldn't get it to work with my install of joomla and virtuemart--but the great tech support from Puma-it (Herve) did real right by me, helping me to quickly resolve the problem and get this up and working on my site. Thanks Herve for your great Code and keep up the great work!
