Hi,

When I am using Stripe.js I get:
You have passed a blank string for 'source'. You should remove the 'source' parameter from your request or supply a non-blank value.

When I am using Charge Direct I get:
Sending credit card numbers directly to the Stripe API is generally unsafe. To continue processing use Stripe.js, the Stripe mobile bindings, or Stripe Elements. For more information, see https://dashboard.stripe.com/account/integration/settings.

I am using VirtueMart 3.2.12, Joomla! 3.8.4 Puma-IT Stripe 2.2.0. and Rupostel OPC 2.0.352.141217.

This is a brand new install of your plugin.

I have looked at the other tickets that reference this problem, but I cannot find an answer in them.

Hi Justin,

Sorry for the late reply. I have both the issue with Rupostel OPC and VirtuePlanet OPC. Like with other extensions using heavily Ajax scripts, and modified processes from the default VM ones, it is difficult to overcome issue sometimes.

Just to make it clear, it is not a bug, but a compatibility issue. You can use direct charge as a workaround. I am aware that it is not ideal, and may require more PCI DSS compliance. It is a workaround only, soon deprecated now. In the Stripe.com dashboard, go to Business settings > Integration > Advanced options, and enable Process payments unsafely

I am working with the other developers, but I cannot guarantee a quick fix. And for an ETA, I cannot estimate their own availability to work with me on this issue, I think it is understandable. I wish to add this compatibility at the end of the month, but again, I cannot promise it.

Dear Justin,

Again, it is not a bug, but a compatibility issue. We have a deprecated workaround that works with Rupotel OPC: Charge Direct. And two weeks ago I gave you the Stripe.com settings to use it (see ticket reply above).

Also, I already gave you some explanations. This compatibility issue is not my first priority at the moment. You are free to understand them or not:

Don't get me wrong, I know that my plugin "should" work with many other extensions like OPC. But I cannot guarantee it, with the complexity and diversity of the extensions out there. And I don't state otherwise on my website. [...]

I have other requests from customers, a few bug fixes, and more localisation to add (German, Italian, Spanish, ...), so I need to prioritise them. I also have some ecommerce websites to update, to bring some income for my family. Unfortunately, the plugin in itself is not enough, I spend more time working on it, than the income it brings, with only a few renewals after a year subscription.

I really wished to have a quicker solution for you, but integrity and honesty are my highest ethos, so I need to tell you the situation as it is now.

Once I have a solution for the compatibility with OPC, I will let you know, of course. And as a proof of appreciation of your understanding, I will extend your subscription from this date.

But finally, if this temporary solution, and future appreciation, do not suit you, you may have an exceptional refund. Please let me know.

Hi,

As per my first post in this thread, Charge Direct *does not work* for recently created Stripe accounts.

Both you and Rupostel *continue* to advertise your plugins as compatible with each other:

"We have tested them to make sure they are compatible with our Stripe payment plugin, and we cooperate with their developers to make our clients happy!"

Is this simply a lie?

I understand that you are not interested in prioritising this issue, but we are over 2 weeks later now, hardly a priority.

If the plugin does not make enough money to be worth your while to maintain it, then charge more - or give up and open source it!

I am not even demanding the fix - just the answer to a question:

When will this bug will be fixed?

Hello Justin,

I hope you are well. Nobody ignores you, and if you read again, there is no release date yet for this compatibility issue, and no one is in position to demand for one. Keeping repeating and requesting it won't get you closer to a solution.

Again, it is not a bug, but a compatibility issue. We have a deprecated workaround that works with Rupotel OPC: Charge Direct. The issue is more relevant since October 2017 for new stripe.com accounts, and again, like stated before, we are aware of that. And this is still a public ticket, visible to anyone with or without a subscription, and well indexed by search engines.

Also, the claim about compatibility could not be clear enough on the main extension page:

- Joomla 3.8.5, VirtueMart 3.2.12,

- Rupostel One Page Checkout 2.0.266, VM 3.0.4 / Joomla 2.5.27.

Is the only supported use with Rupostel Joomla 2.5.27, which has been known insecure for over three and a half years?:

You require that people use a 3.5yr out of date CMS in an eCommerce environment to support Stripe accounts younger than October 2017?

Functionality

Once you go through the documentation and try out the settings (and don't forget to test it with a "test item", it works like a dream.

Ease of use

Very easy to use, though a little play with the settings may be needed to get an understanding of the system. And you need a stripe account.

Support

Best support ever. Hervé has been very patient and kind and helped me greatly when the Stripe plugin no longer spoke with the new updates.

Documentation

Documentation is very good. You do need a Stripe account, and you need a little "try out" time to get it all in place.

Value for money

Yes, very much value for money. The plugin, Hervé's support, the easy for the customers to use it. It is all worth it.

I used this to: I use it for my IMRF Bookshop: imrfbookshop(.)org. People can now pay by credit/debit card, Paypal (different plugin) and they can request an invoice and pay by bank transfer.
