Hi

I just installed the plugin and am having this problem see image in dropbox link below.

Also I thought the CC numbers would not be taken on our site.

Do I need to get an SSL cert in order for this to be safe?

Also does my hosting server have to be PCI compliant.

Hi Dave,

Thank you for using our plugin for VirtueMart.

1/ Regarding Security Certificate (Over TLS rather than SSL), like with every security topic, it is required by Stripe themselves. Please check Stripe details here:
https://stripe.com/help/ssl

However, you can test transactions without certificate, as explained on their page.

Your hosting provider may help you with TLS/SSL. I can also help you on setting up HTTPS on your Joomla/VirtueMart website if you request it.

2/ The issue you are experiencing may have several sources.

2.1/ First, like stated in the extension page, the plugin works with Joomla 3.3.6 + VM 3.0.4. On later versions, we are working on a permanent fix, that may break backward compatibility with Joomla 2.5.x/VM 2.6.x.

2.2/ Second, have a look at your Stripe logs, you may have a better message. Especially what is happening with the "token" and then the "charge". It will help narrowing down the issue.

3/ What so you mean by

Were you thinking about an external payment page, like Paypal?

We are using Joomla version, 3.4.3 and VirtueMart 3.0.9. Could that be the issue?

Second, have a look at your Stripe logs, you may have a better message. Especially what is happening with the "token" and then the "charge". It will help narrowing down the issue.

I checked the Stripe logs and there is nothing there, so I don't think the test payment is going from the site to Stripe.

Yes the combination of Joomla and VirtueMart versions can be an issue. I have some weird behaviours depending on the versions, so I am performing more tests at the moment. That's why I state clearly the versions successfully tested. Some other versions may work, but it is not 100% sure. You may have to wait a new release if the tests are still not good.

I checked the Stripe logs and there is nothing there, so I don't think the test payment is going from the site to Stripe.

All right, so we may need to investigate further. I am testing your combination today, and I will get back to you with details if needed.

Finally, if you were thinking of an external page like Paypal, and if you still require this workflow, then Stripe payment is definitively not for you. Please note that I am not affiliated or endorsed by the Stripe company, neither do I have receive any commission or any kind of money or compensation for making people using Stripe payment. I have a third-party developer, like some other ones.

Hi Dave,

We made further tests, and there are some issues. Also, VirtueMart 3.0.9 is said to be compatible with Joomla 3.4.1, and not 3.4.3, according to this page:
http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/files

I am about to release a plugin version 1.1.4, that fixes an issue with One Page Checkout, so it may work better.

What are you using at the moment? VirtueMart One page checkout option? Another extension for that? Then if it is the case, you have to use our workaround, and go the plugin settings: VM Admin > Shop > Payment Methods > (stripe) > Configuration:
Select "Charge Direct".

Please let me know if it works better for you now.

Functionality

Once you go through the documentation and try out the settings (and don't forget to test it with a "test item", it works like a dream.

Ease of use

Very easy to use, though a little play with the settings may be needed to get an understanding of the system. And you need a stripe account.

Support

Best support ever. Hervé has been very patient and kind and helped me greatly when the Stripe plugin no longer spoke with the new updates.

Documentation

Documentation is very good. You do need a Stripe account, and you need a little "try out" time to get it all in place.

Value for money

Yes, very much value for money. The plugin, Hervé's support, the easy for the customers to use it. It is all worth it.

I used this to: I use it for my IMRF Bookshop: imrfbookshop(.)org. People can now pay by credit/debit card, Paypal (different plugin) and they can request an invoice and pay by bank transfer.

Yes. There are different subscription options, depending on your requirements.
